Regional economic development starts a new funding period - funds will be increased to 160 million euros in 2022

At the beginning of the year, the Ministry of Economics of North Rhine-Westphalia gave the starting signal for the new funding period for the North Rhine-Westphalia Regional Economic Development Program.

The previous funding area – the districts and independent cities in which projects can be funded – will be significantly expanded again.

Investment in the modernization of the country's economy and regions.

The federal and state governments are investing 1.3 billion euros in the modernization of the state's economy and regions over the next six years and are supporting job-creating investments in the settlement or expansion of companies as well as municipal investments in business-related infrastructure. This includes, for example, the promotion of commercial and technology centers, commercial areas or inter-company training centers.

“I am pleased that we can add eight more districts to the current funding area of the regional economic development program and increase the funding limits for many more. This means that numerous districts and independent cities in North Rhine-Westphalia will receive attractive and improved funding conditions.”

Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart: Minister of Economics and Innovation
