It is essential to consider both the state as a whole and the individual sub-regions with their strong urban centers and spatial disparities, including the special situation in the Rhenish mining region affected by the coal phase-out. Regionen.NRW is an association of the nine regional development and marketing organizations that acts as an advocate for these regions in dealings with state policymakers, supports regional development processes, and promotes interregional exchange. NRW.innovativ strengthens the regions of North Rhine-Westphalia as a central interface for networking the state's innovation landscape. This is achieved through topic- and needs-based on-site consulting, knowledge and experience exchange via peer-to-peer learning, and the participatory development of North Rhine-Westphalia's Regional Innovation Strategy.
