Climate-neutral glass production in the Rhenish district

Prime Minister Wüst (CDU) and Economics Minister Pinkwart visited the production site of the glass manufacturer Saint-Gobain in Herzogenrath. Here, with the support of the state, climate-neutral glass is produced using hydrogen.

The state of North Rhine-Westphalia is supporting the project with 3.6 million euros.

North Rhine-Westphalia wants to accelerate the development of a future-oriented hydrogen economy. An important component is the “COSiMa – CO2-neutral Saint-Gobain industrial site in Herzogenrath” project, in which the use of hydrogen in energy-intensive industry is demonstrated. The state of North Rhine-Westphalia is supporting the project with around 3.6 million euros as part of the IN4climate.NRW initiative. On the occasion of the funding decision handover at the company's location in Herzogenrath, Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst and Minister of Economics and Innovation Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart took a picture of the production facilities today (January 12, 2022).
