Europe's path to a sustainable and digital future: Horizon Europe Strategic Plan 2025-2027

The strategic plan for Horizon Europe, recently adopted by the European Union, sets new standards for research and innovation. With a clear focus on the green transition, digital transformation and strengthened global competitiveness, the plan outlines key objectives and priorities for 2025 to 2027. This includes supporting the green transition, promoting digital transformation and strengthening a resilient, competitive, inclusive and democratic Europe. The plan underlines Europe's commitment to be a leader in tackling global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, digital changes and population aging.

One of the initiatives is the commitment to reserve a significant part of Horizon Europe's overall budget for biodiversity issues. This complements the existing goals in the area of climate protection and digital activities. The strategic plan also announces the launch of new European partnerships in areas such as health, sustainable forestry, innovative materials and promoting social change.

The New European Bauhaus (NEB), as an innovation movement, plays a key role in the strategy and aims to redefine sustainable and inclusive living in Europe through collaborative projects. In addition, the plan emphasizes the importance of social sciences and humanities to ensure a comprehensive perspective on research and innovation.
