How holography is changing heart treatment in NRW

The Heart and Diabetes Center North Rhine-Westphalia (HDZ NRW) in Bad Oeynhausen marks a revolutionary advance in the European medical landscape. The first use of holographic technology in cardiac medicine is pushing the boundaries between reality and science fiction. This innovative technology allows doctors to view, rotate and analyze a patient's beating heart as a three-dimensional real-time hologram. This intuitive and interactive approach offers an unprecedented level of detail and supports the precise planning and execution of catheter procedures.

Holography offers a new dimension in medical visualization, particularly in complex procedures such as the treatment of structural heart diseases. The technology enables a significantly improved perception of the patient's anatomy, which increases the safety and efficiency of the procedures. Developed by RealView Imaging Ltd. in Israel, the HOLOSCOPE™ system in Bad Oeynhausen represents a decisive step towards improved and future-oriented patient treatment.

In addition to providing direct support in carrying out interventions, holography is also becoming the focus of medical training. It enables young doctors to study complex cardiac structures and diseases in a way that was previously not possible. The experience and data collected at the HDZ NRW will play an important role not only in clinical practice, but also in scientific research to further substantiate the advantages of this technology.
