EU-METAHEART: Cooperative research for a breakthrough in heart failure

Heart failure or heart failure is a widespread disease that affects millions of people. The launch of the EU project EU-METAHEART in autumn 2023 will usher in a new era of research in this area, with researchers from different European countries working together to develop new approaches to treatment and lay the foundations for future drugs against heart failure.

The project will bring together researchers who will exchange their expertise and cutting-edge technologies. Prof. Dr. Dr. hc Gerd Heusch, a renowned scientist from the University of Duisburg-Essen, will lead the German contingent on the board of EU-METAHEART.

The research will utilize various innovative approaches including genetic, epigenetic and metabolic analyzes as well as advanced imaging technologies. The goal is to develop a detailed understanding of dysfunctional metabolism in heart failure.
