Innovations for better healthcare
In May 2023, the German Society for Telemedicine e. V. (DGTelemed) received their annual awards as part of the National Telemedicine Congress. Two award-winning projects from North Rhine-Westphalia underline the relevance of digital innovations in healthcare.
At the top was the smartcor app, a product from novadocs GmbH from Bad Oeynhausen, which took first place. As a digital tool for stroke prevention, smartcor simplifies the screening of atrial fibrillation, especially in combination with wearables. This pioneering role in telemedicine earned smartcor the coveted first prize.
The Optimal@NRW project, coordinated by the Central Emergency Room of the RWTH Aachen University Hospital, secured second place. Funded by the Innovation Fund of the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA), Optimal@NRW aims to improve acute medical care for older people in need of care and to avoid unnecessary hospital admissions.
These award-winning innovations from NRW make it clear how telemedicine is shaping the future of healthcare.
