Minister Pinkwart: The successful model of the mobile communications pact continues

With a 5G penetration level of around 71 percent, North Rhine-Westphalia is already very well served. This is shown by current figures from the Federal Network Agency, which were evaluated as part of the Mobile Communications Pact 2.0 between the state government and network operators.

Based on a leading position among the regional states in 5G coverage, NRW is continuing to rapidly expand the new mobile communications standard. The mobile network operators were able to install a total of almost 6,000 5G extensions in North Rhine-Westphalia. The state government's mobile communications dashboard (www.mobilfunk.nrw) has also received an update and now shows - for the first time as part of a state portal - the 5G area coverage at district level. In addition, the 5G coverage maps of the individual network operators have been newly included.

Economics and Digital Minister Andreas Pinkwart: “With the Mobile Communications Pact 2.0, we are continuing the successful collaboration between the state and mobile network operators and are setting course for nationwide 5G coverage. It is also particularly important to quickly close the remaining LTE coverage gaps. With a view to the federal coverage requirements, every lever must be pulled to create the best mobile communications coverage for North Rhine-Westphalia.”
