Start-up Transfer.NRW: Support for university start-ups in NRW

In the first round of the competition of the “Start-up Transfer.NRW” program, 14 of 28 start-up projects submitted were selected by a jury of experts. The program aims to support spin-offs from universities.

Highlights of the initiative:

  • Funding: A total of 40 million euros will be available from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia until 2027.
  • Goal: Support founders from universities and research institutions in North Rhine-Westphalia. The focus is on the market-oriented further development of research results, the preparation of start-ups and project-related advice.
  • Support: Founding teams can receive up to 270,000 euros over a maximum period of 24 months.
  • Application deadline: Interested parties can submit their applications to the NRW Innovation Funding Agency from November 1st, 2023 to January 31st, 2024.

Economics and Climate Protection Minister Mona Neubaur emphasized the importance of university start-ups as drivers for knowledge-based solutions and impetus for the transformation of the economy, especially with regard to current challenges such as climate neutrality and the energy transition.
