The Cologne/Bonn region is home to over 3.6 million people. It is a support and breeding ground for services and businesses. It is a cultural area and a modern production landscape. The economic dynamism and everyday practicality of this region are closely related.
Its great strengths include its charisma and appeal as a culture and tourism region, but also as an economic and innovation region. Creativity and thirst for knowledge form the breeding ground for the entire region.
The regional management operated by Region Köln/Bonn eV has long been the regional coordination and cooperation platform and promotes communication between partners in the region, at the state, federal or European level.
Regional management means communication and cooperation. Since its founding in 1992 and especially as part of the Regional 2010 structural program, regional actors have come together in a wide variety of constellations to move the region forward through projects, formats and programs. The practical implementation of regional management is reflected in the association's working areas/topics and working committees.
The association's fields of work are the basis for regional management in the Cologne/Bonn region. Through the organized exchange in the committees, the foundations of regional cooperation are created and strategies and projects are developed to overcome structural, social, ecological and economic challenges.
The Cologne/Bonn eV region is an association of the independent cities of Cologne, Bonn and Leverkusen as well as the districts of Rhein-Sieg-Kreis, Rhein-Erft-Kreis, Rhein-Kreis Neuss, Oberbergischer Kreis and Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis. In addition to the eight regional authorities, members include the Cologne Chamber of Crafts, the Bonn/Rhein-Sieg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Cologne Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Cologne District Savings Bank, the Cologne Bonn Sparkasse, the Leverkusen Sparkasse, the Rhineland Regional Association and the DGB region Cologne-Bonn. The Cologne district government, the Ahrweiler district, the Düren district and the Euskirchen district are involved as guests in the association's decision-making and working committees.
