Three companies honored for outstanding innovations

In North Rhine-Westphalia, three craft companies from Heek, Havixbeck and Ahaus were awarded the Craft Innovation Prize 2023 for their innovative contributions to promoting resource efficiency, energy saving and sustainability. The award winners are Baer-Machines, Zauberzeug GmbH and the Verweyen bakery. The prize, which is awarded by the state government, honors craft businesses that develop innovative solution strategies and implement new processes. It is endowed with 10,000 euros each and is awarded every two years.

This award underlines the important role that craftsmen play in the energy transition and climate protection. Your skills and ideas are essential for a climate-friendly and sustainable North Rhine-Westphalia. The award-winning projects range from a semi-automatic machine for regrooving vehicle tires to an autonomous AI-supported mini field robot to a bakery's own wheat cultivation in the immediate vicinity.

These innovations show how craft businesses deal with future-oriented questions in their daily work and solve them innovatively. The Craft Innovation Prize recognizes the commitment of companies and their designers who make a significant contribution to the development of new products, technologies and services.

The awards are presented in two categories based on company size, and this year also include a special award for innovations in the areas of energy saving and climate protection. The focus is on the practical application of innovations that both strengthen the competitiveness of companies and specifically contribute to greater climate protection.
