State-of-the-art AI technology for environmental protection
A new era of flood protection begins in North Rhine-Westphalia with the launch of an AI-supported flood warning system, which will become part of the KI.NRW flagship initiative. This advanced system uses artificial intelligence and modern sensors to detect impending floods at an early stage and warn them more accurately than previous methods. The project was initiated in the Bergisches Land and is funded by the ministry with 2.8 million euros. It shows how important the combination of science, business and government support is for the development of innovative solutions.
The system not only enables improved predictions by analyzing extensive data, but also informs companies at risk in real time via a special app. After the successful implementation in the Bergisches Land, it is planned to expand the system to the whole of North Rhine-Westphalia. This strengthens regional resilience and contributes to security.
