DATIpilot: BMBF's pioneer for agile research funding

By July 27, 2023 August 4th, 2023 No Comments

A catalyst for innovation and transfer

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is taking a big step towards agile research funding and faster transfer of research results into practice. With the new DATIpilot program, researchers, universities, start-ups, large companies and social organizations are equally invited to break new ground in the knowledge and technology transfer landscape.

The German Agency for Transfer and Innovation (DATI), as an independent, agile funding agency, will support and accompany this process. Its mission is to quickly and effectively translate research results into economic and/or social applications.

DATIpilot is divided into two independent funding modules: innovation sprints and innovation communities.

Innovation sprints invite participants to implement an original transfer idea from science, whether alone or with an application partner. The funding amounts to up to 150,000 euros per application partner for a period of up to 18 months.

Innovation communities make it possible to develop a thematically defined innovation community with partners from science, business and society. Funding of up to 5 million euros is possible here over a period of up to four years.

A special focus is on thematic and self-organizational freedom, supported by individual coaching offers and needs-based support offers.
