Innovations in environmental economics, circular economy and climate adaptation

North Rhine-Westphalia stands for a strong economy, innovation and lots of talent. The country is one of the most innovative regions in Europe and is the country's largest provider of environmental technologies. The innovation competition “GreenEconomy.IN.NRW” is intended to support small and medium-sized companies in particular in exploiting innovation potential for climate and environmental protection, resource conservation, circular value creation and adaptation to climate change. We are looking for cooperation projects in the fields of environmental economics, circular economy and climate adaptation. The aim is to strengthen NRW as an innovation and business location as a pioneer of sustainable transformation, also in the spirit of the European Green Deal.

Research, innovation and development projects in the pre-competitive area from the subject areas are supported

    • Environmental economy : Innovations that contribute to the development of environmentally friendly, climate-protecting, resource-saving products, processes and services.
    • Circular Economy : Innovations with the aim of saving resources and developing circular products and business models
    • Climate adaptation : Innovative projects to increase climate resilience

Innovation funding in the EFRE.NRW 2021-2027 will be implemented through a total of six innovation competitions, which arise from the innovation fields of the Regional Innovation Strategy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (RIS) . Building on this, the competition is based on a broad understanding of innovation, which includes both technical and non-technical innovations.

Submission deadline for the 1st submission round: April 18, 2023
