Artificial intelligence and cybersecurity: challenges and opportunities for the healthcare system in NRW

 

On August 18, 2023, the “Innovative Secure Medical Campus” (ISMC) will be presented at the University Hospital of Bonn (UKB), a showcase project of the North Rhine-Westphalian Competence Center for Artificial Intelligence (KI.NRW). The ISMC project relies on state-of-the-art technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence (AI) and surgical robotics to establish a future-oriented medical campus.

The opening event, which includes a filmed introduction to the topic of “Digitalization for the benefit of patients at the UKB”, will be led by Prof. Wolfgang Holzgreve, Medical Director and Chairman of the Board of the UKB. After a welcoming speech by Mona Neubaur, the Minister of Economics of North Rhine-Westphalia, various aspects of the ISMC project will be presented, including the digital patient journey, surgical robotics, virtual reality and cybersecurity.

Dr. Christian Temath, Managing Director of KI.NRW, took part. The focus will be on the challenges and opportunities of AI and cybersecurity in healthcare.
