On the way to a green hydrogen economy
The energy transition in Germany will result in a future dependency on green hydrogen imports. In a recently presented study, the DLR project sponsor, together with partner institutions, examined possible hydrogen partnerships with African and Asian countries that offer a sunny, conducive environment for green hydrogen production.
These partnerships could be beneficial for everyone involved, provided they are built sustainably. The technical, economic and social impacts that the production of green hydrogen could have in the five potential export countries were examined. The results of the study were presented to the German Bundestag at the end of May 2023 and are intended to serve as recommendations for future measures.
