Commuters should be motivated to switch to climate-friendly means of transport.

Innovative projects are needed to achieve more climate protection in transport. One such project is the “Climate Commuting Challenge,” which the European Automobile Club is launching today and is intended to motivate commuters to switch to climate-friendly means of transport. Rita Schwarzelühr-Sutter, Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Environment Ministry, today presented the ACE Auto Club Europa eV with a symbolic funding check for around 607,000 euros from the National Climate Protection Initiative (NKI) for this project.

There is great climate protection potential in shifting commuter traffic from cars to means of transport with lower or zero emissions. But not only the environment benefits from this, but also the companies themselves, for example by reducing the costs of parking spaces, improving their accessibility, increasing their attractiveness as an employer and promoting the health of their employees. With the “Climate Commute Challenge”, the ACE Auto Club Europe is today launching a new, innovative project for mobility management in companies. The main goal of the project is to motivate employees to rethink their choice of mode of transport and change their mobility behavior. This can be achieved, for example, by switching to public and non-motorized transport or by forming carpools.
