Innovation competition supports 19 new projects

The innovation competition “Gesünder.IN.NRW” marks a decisive step in promoting health research in North Rhine-Westphalia. With a significant sum of around 30 million euros, the competition supports 19 selected projects that have the potential to significantly improve healthcare in the country.

These projects, which were selected in a first round of funding, cover a wide range, from the development of high-precision jawbone surgical systems to temperature-resistant vaccines. Another focus is on the use of artificial intelligence to support home care and the development of individualized medical aids.

The competition, which is supported by various ministries in the country, emphasizes the interdisciplinary approach to research and development. The aim is to translate excellent research into practical applications and thus not only improve the quality of life of people in NRW, but also strengthen the science and business location.

In addition to promoting innovation in the healthcare industry, the competition also emphasizes the importance of sustainable and healthy nutrition. The projects are intended to help overcome the challenges of a shortage of skilled workers, an aging society and the climate crisis.

With the start of the second round of the competition on December 1st, there is once again an opportunity to promote innovative and creative ideas in the healthcare industry. A total of 100 million euros is earmarked to support these projects, which focus on improving health promotion and care.
