The state of North Rhine-Westphalia is launching a new sustainability portal

The transformation of the industrial state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the importance of sustainable financial and capital flows were central topics of the sustainability conference “Sustainable Finance” on February 23, 2022, which was attended by Environment Minister Ursula Heinen-Esser and Finance Minister Lutz Lienenkämper, as well as other high-ranking representatives from science and business , administration and civil society took part.

According to the Environment Minister, this conference, as well as the state's new sustainability portal, promote exchange and show possibilities for implementing sustainability. The state's sustainability strategy provides strategic direction.

The state government highlights the financing of social and ecological projects through sustainability bonds as an important catalyst for sustainable transformation - North Rhine-Westphalia has issued eight such bonds with a total volume of 16.6 billion euros, making it one of the largest public issuers of sustainability bonds in the world.
