The future of genomics in NRW

The West German Genome Center (WGGC), a leading center for genome research in North Rhine-Westphalia, is receiving further financial support. This funding strengthens NRW's position in medical research.

The WGGC, launched in 2019, has made a name for itself through world-class genomic sequencing techniques. With experts from four renowned university cities, the center covers a wide range of medical research. The core areas include aging processes, cancer, neurodegenerative and inflammatory diseases and virological studies. This diversity demonstrates the importance of the WGGC for current and future medical breakthroughs. With its two-year funding from the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the center is ideally positioned to continue and deepen its work.
