Save energy and protect the climate
Public facilities such as libraries, sports halls and daycare centers are often energy-intensive buildings, especially if they are older. The “Energy-Efficient Public Buildings” funding program aims to renovate these buildings to make them more energy efficient and thus contribute to a decarbonized building stock in North Rhine-Westphalia. It's about reducing energy consumption, increasing energy efficiency and making a general contribution to climate protection.
With an impressive budget of 196 million euros, provided by the European Union and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, both investment and non-investment renovation measures are being supported. These measures must go beyond the legal requirements and ensure a significant reduction in primary energy requirements.
A wide range of public institutions, from cultural to social, can benefit from this program. Municipalities, municipal companies and non-profit organizations in North Rhine-Westphalia are primarily eligible for funding.
