Bocholt is experiencing medical innovation thanks to the new 5G campus network

The Westphalian University in Bocholt is hosting an exciting innovation project: “5G TeleRescue”. Thanks to a newly installed 5G campus network, provided by the company TRIOPT from Moers, the next generation of emergency medical care can be tested.

This groundbreaking research project aims to expand the possibilities of diagnostics and therapy for teleemergency doctors. Such an expansion, made possible by 5G technology, has the potential to significantly improve emergency medical care, especially in rural areas, while at the same time relieving the strain on scarce emergency doctor resources.

The test and validation phase of the project, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport with around 3.5 million euros, runs until the end of 2024. The first test results are expected in spring 2024. It is planned to also make the campus network available for future regional business projects.
