To secure value chains, investments in production lines and new types of systems as well as the expansion or conversion of existing systems in important technology areas are supported. EU funds amounting to 1.9 billion euros are available from the ERDF/JTF program NRW 2021-2027 for forward-looking, sustainable and innovative projects in North Rhine-Westphalia. The state also supports the projects with its own contribution.

Who are the applicants?

Small, medium-sized and large companies with headquarters or branches in the Rhenish district (Aachen city region, city of Mönchengladbach, Düren district, Heinsberg district, Rhein-Erft district and Rhein-Neuss district) or the northern Ruhr area (cities of Bottrop, Dorsten, Gladbeck and Marl).

Companies that want to set up a branch there are also eligible to participate.

Economics and Climate Protection Minister Mona Neubaur: “With the new funding offer, we would like to create targeted incentives for companies to settle in the Rhenish district and the northern Ruhr area or to expand production sites in order to develop or produce innovative technologies. Digital and environmentally friendly future technologies secure high-quality jobs and are of strategic importance on the path to a climate-neutral economy. They also strengthen the competitiveness of our industrial and innovation location.”
