ÖMoBau: Sustainable construction with mineral construction waste
The project “Modular construction with mineral construction waste in an eco-efficient material cycle” (ÖMoBau) sets new standards in the construction industry. The aim of the project is to efficiently recycle mineral construction waste and integrate it into modular construction in order to establish a sustainable circular economy in the construction industry.
Challenges of the construction industry
Every year, around 220 million tons of construction and demolition waste is generated in Germany, which previously was often landfilled or incinerated. However, this waste represents a valuable resource that can be reused through innovative recycling methods. This is exactly where ÖMoBau comes in: mineral waste such as concrete and bricks are processed and converted into new building materials that are suitable for modular construction.
The goal of ÖMoBau
The main goal of ÖMoBau is to create an eco-efficient material cycle. The modular construction concepts make it possible to use components multiple times and extend their service life. The use of recycled mineral building materials not only reduces resource consumption, but also reduces CO₂ emissions in the construction industry.
Innovations in recycling
ÖMoBau focuses on developing technologies that enable high-quality recycling of construction waste. The main focus is on improving material quality in order to establish recycled building materials in the construction industry in the long term. The innovations include new separation and processing processes that efficiently convert mineral waste into reusable materials.
