On October 1st, the innocam.FORUM took place in cooperation with the South Westphalia Agency in Menden, where the focus was on the opportunities and challenges of automated and networked mobility in rural areas. The venue was the Menden municipal utility vehicle hall, where autonomous driving is being tested in rural environments.

Highlights of the lectures:

  • Dr. Carola Haumann (Bielefeld University): Autonomous railway systems can not only increase efficiency, but also reactivate disused railway lines. Automated small vehicles are currently being tested at the RailCampus OWL in Minden.
  • Dr. Martin Sandler (Argonav GmbH): Presented his experiences from the Akoon project, in which his company is responsible for the navigation of an autonomous inland ferry.
  • Jens Niepelt (WÖHR Autoparksysteme GmbH): Presented innovative, automated solutions for connecting mobility and bicycle parking to promote the switch to bicycles.
  • Christian Stolper (Federal Funding Advisory Service “Research and Innovation”): Provided information about funding opportunities in the area of ​​automated mobility and gave useful tips for the funding process.
