On September 16, 2024, three companies were awarded the Environmental Economics Prize.NRW in Düsseldorf for their sustainable innovations.

  • ClayTec GmbH received first place and 30,000 euros for its clay building materials, which are environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional building materials and are produced in CO2-neutral plants.
  • Voltfang GmbH secured second place with a battery storage system made from reused “second-life” batteries that optimizes energy use. You can find out more about Voltfang GmbH in our innovation showcase .
  • HDB Recycling GmbH came in third place for its technology for recycling mineral waste into secondary building materials.

The Environmental Economy Prize.NRW is awarded every two years by the Ministry of the Environment and NRW.BANK to honor companies that achieve both economic success and positive effects on climate and environmental protection through sustainable innovations. These companies contribute to making North Rhine-Westphalia a leading location for sustainable business and support the ecological transformation of the region.
