The competence network Umweltwirtschaft.NRW (KNUW) is a nationwide network for knowledge and technology transfer in the area of ​​environmental innovations. Since 2020, the network has been operated by VDI Technologiezentrum GmbH, Prognos AG and the Institute for the Future of Industrial Society (INZIN) on behalf of the Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Transport of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The competence network Umweltwirtschaft.NRW sees itself as a partner for exchange between companies, research, associations, universities, regional agencies and economic development at regional and local level. The central task is to strengthen the environmental economy in North Rhine-Westphalia through the identification and improved use of national and international market opportunities.

Hartmut Schug

Hartmut Schug has been head of the Umweltwirtschaft.NRW competence network since 2020, which is operated on behalf of the NRW Environment Ministry.

Mr. Schug studied biology and communication sciences and has been working at the VDI Technology Center (Düsseldorf) since 2002 with a focus on sustainability, environment and energy. There he supervised various consulting and networking projects for federal and state ministries.
