New it's OWL project supports companies in implementing a circular economy
The new GoProZero project from it's OWL supports companies in developing and implementing sustainable products. In light of stricter regulations, dwindling resources, and growing societal demands for sustainability, the circular economy offers a promising solution. It extends product lifecycles, closes material loops, and reduces dependence on scarce raw materials. However, the transformation to circular business models is challenging for companies.
This is where the new it's OWL project 'GoProZero' comes in, empowering companies to develop circular and resource-efficient products. Funded by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy (MWIKE) with around four million euros, the project will promote innovative approaches in the circular economy and digitalization over the next three years.
“Climate protection requires technology, and that technology is being developed in North Rhine-Westphalia. Through practical IT tools and digital solutions, the ‘GoProZero’ project strengthens competitiveness and demonstrates how ecological responsibility and economic success can go hand in hand. The transformation to a circular economy is no longer a future topic – it is an urgent necessity. North Rhine-Westphalia is leading the way as a leading region for the circular economy and sustainable industrial development. This creates new jobs, strengthens the competitiveness of our companies, and protects the climate,” says Mona Neubaur, Minister for Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Within this project, experts from various fields are collaborating to develop innovative approaches to product development. The goal is to help companies make their processes and products more sustainable and thus remain competitive. Through close cooperation with research institutions and other industry stakeholders, practical solutions will be developed that can be directly integrated into everyday business operations. The project relies on state-of-the-art technologies and methods to increase efficiency and sustainability in production.
