Minister Pinkwart: The successful mobile communications pact model continues
With a 5G penetration rate of around 71 percent, North Rhine-Westphalia already has very good coverage. This is shown by current figures from the Federal Network Agency, which were evaluated as part of the Mobile Communications Pact 2.0 between the state government and network operators.
Building on its leading position among German states in 5G coverage, North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) is rapidly advancing the rollout of the new mobile communications standard. Mobile network operators have installed nearly 6,000 5G extensions across the state. The state government's mobile communications dashboard (www.mobilfunk.nrw) has also been updated and now displays – for the first time on a state portal – 5G coverage at the district level. In addition, the 5G coverage maps of the individual network operators have been added.
Minister for Economic Affairs and Digitalization Andreas Pinkwart: “With the Mobile Communications Pact 2.0, we are continuing the successful cooperation between the state and mobile network operators and setting a course for comprehensive 5G coverage. It is also particularly important to quickly close the remaining LTE coverage gaps. In light of the federal government's coverage obligations, every effort must be made to create the best possible mobile network coverage for North Rhine-Westphalia.”
