New federal funding for efficient heating networks

In order to achieve the climate goals, both electricity and heat generation must be converted to renewable energies - this affects both private homes (heating, hot water) and industrial manufacturing processes.

District heating networks, which are to be converted to CO2 neutrality via the new funding program, play a central role.

In addition to building insulation, important key points include the conversion of existing heating systems in private and commercial buildings as well as climate-neutral district heating supply. Due to the longer lead time for implementation and the high investment requirement, short-term start-up activities are necessary. The aim of the planned funding program is to close the current economic gap with fossil energy sources and thus initiate the timely switch to renewable heat.

In addition to the transformation potential, this change offers further opportunities in terms of new technologies and innovations, also at the level of novel system solutions, which lead to market and export opportunities for the industry. The federal government's funding program supports the conversion in several components: In addition to funding individual heat generators, the network conversion including feasibility studies is also addressed.
