A journey into the future of mechanical engineering services: The visions of 2035
The VDMA Competence Center Future Business, in collaboration with companies and the Fraunhofer ISI, recently developed four future scenarios for service in mechanical engineering, which were published in the eighth volume of the "Future Services 2035" series. The concepts were presented and discussed at an event hosted by VDMA NRW at the Windmöller & Hölscher (WuH) Academy in Lengerich.
The event attracted executives from the service and business development sectors of the mechanical engineering industry from North Rhine-Westphalia and neighboring regions. The focus was on current developments in the service sector and its future direction.
The four scenarios developed offer an exciting insight into the possible future of service in mechanical engineering and encompass a variety of fully automated service offerings, from the emphasis on sustainability and the used machinery business to the outsourcing of services to third parties.
