ProduktionNRW is the cluster for mechanical engineering and production technology in North Rhine-Westphalia and is operated by VDMA NRW . ProduktionNRW sees itself as a platform for connecting, informing, and marketing companies, institutions, and networks both amongst themselves and along the value chain. Significant portions of the services provided by ProduktionNRW are funded by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Dr. David Blass
After studying mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig and EPFL Lausanne, he worked at the Institute for Joining and Welding Technology and earned his doctorate in production engineering. His career then took him to North Rhine-Westphalia for 3M Germany GmbH. From 2020 to 2025, he worked for IKB Deutsche Industriebank AG, initially in sector coverage for mechanical and plant engineering and later as department director in the bank's ESG & Transformation Advisory division, advising German SMEs. At the end of 2025, he assumed the role of Managing Director of VDMA NRW (the North Rhine-Westphalia branch of the German Engineering Federation). Since then, he has also served as Manager of ProduktionNRW, the cluster for mechanical engineering and production technology, as part of the North Rhine-Westphalia state cluster policy. With an extensive network in industry, academia, and government in North Rhine-Westphalia, he is deeply committed to strengthening the competitiveness and transformation of the mechanical engineering and production industries in the region.
