KI.NRW
The AI.NRW competence platform is developing North Rhine-Westphalia into a leading national region for applied artificial intelligence (AI) and establishing NRW within international networks. As the state's umbrella organization for AI, AI.NRW unites the three pillars of cutting-edge research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. AI.NRW's services primarily aim to accelerate the transfer of artificial intelligence from research to industry, establish a leading region for vocational training in AI, and stimulate public discourse surrounding trustworthy, human-centered AI. AI.NRW is funded by the state ministries of Science, Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitalization and Energy (MWIKE) and Culture and Science (MKW) and is managed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems IAIS in Sankt Augustin.
The AI.NRW portfolio includes various event formats such as the annual AI.Forum.NRW and AI consultation hours , as well as, in the future, design sprints and shadowing opportunities for companies. Demonstrators and a virtual AI.showroom , educational resources like the AI.Worlds , diverse publications, and the AI.Map with over 1,000 entries make artificial intelligence expertise accessible in the areas of research, business, and technology transfer. Furthermore, the competence platform supports projects funded by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia as AI flagship projects, aiming to promote efficient technology transfer and close collaboration between SMEs, startups, universities, colleges, and research institutions in North Rhine-Westphalia. These include, for example, the two AI.NRW flagship projects "AI Certification" and "SmartHospital.NRW."
