Comprehensive data and insights into the research landscape of universities.
The state government of North Rhine-Westphalia and 32 universities have published their first state research report. The report provides a detailed overview of research activities at universities and universities of applied sciences (HAWs) for the years 2021 to 2023. It includes previously unavailable data on third-party funding, publications, and patents, as well as insights into projects in the areas of globalization and sustainability, information technology, and life and well-being.
With this publication, North Rhine-Westphalia is among the first German states to establish statewide research reporting according to the German Council of Science and Humanities' KDSF standard. The state initiative CRIS.NRW supports the development of research information systems in this process. Minister Ina Brandes emphasizes the leading international position of North Rhine-Westphalia as a
research location and the strength of both its metropolitan areas and its regions. The state rectors' conferences underscore the role of universities as drivers of societal and technological development and the importance of HAWs as practice-oriented engines of innovation.
The report comprises data from 14 universities and 18 HAWs, as well as contributions from publicly funded institutions of higher education. Other types of higher education institutions and non-university research institutions will be included in the future. The state research report is published every three years and is available online.
