New programs support innovative robotics solutions for environmental technology and the transfer of knowledge between research and industry. Stakeholders from North Rhine-Westphalia can also participate.
The Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) has published the funding guidelines for "Robots4CleanTech – Intelligent Robotics for Environmental Technology" and the concept competition "Innovation Labs for AI-Based Robotics (Robo-Hubs) ." Both programs are also aimed at stakeholders in the North Rhine-Westphalia AI ecosystem.
With "Robots4CleanTech," the Austrian Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs (BMFTR) is promoting the development of AI-supported robotics solutions for applications in environmental technology. The aim is to drive innovation for greater resource efficiency, a circular economy, and resource sovereignty, as well as to strengthen competitiveness. From mid-2027, application-oriented collaborative projects involving partners from industry, academia, and practice will be supported. Funding amounts to up to €1.2 million per collaborative project with a duration of 24 to 30 months . Project outlines can be submitted until September 15, 2026
The "Innovation Labs for AI-Based Robotics (Robo-Hubs)" competition aims to create new structures that accelerate the transfer of AI-based robotics from research to industrial application. In particular, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) should gain better access to innovative technologies. Universities and research institutions can submit their concept proposals until July 31, 2026. Funding covers a period of nine months and a funding volume of up to €500,000 per project.
