The AI map of AI.NRW now features over 1,200 entries from business, science, and training. In addition to new software innovations, North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) is becoming an increasingly attractive AI hub thanks to significant investments in hardware. Microsoft is building a large data center in the Rhenish mining region, one of the world's most powerful supercomputers will be launched at the Jülich Research Center at the end of 2024, and an Aachen-based semiconductor startup is receiving around €250 million in funding. The new motto is "AI instead of coal," supported by state policymakers, to ensure NRW's future viability as Europe's leading industrial region.
The annual conference on October 10th will discuss the future direction of AI developments. Accompanied by expert presentations from business and research, the conference will explore the concrete impact of the AI hype and how companies, startups, and SMEs have integrated AI into their processes. It will also examine how large companies in North Rhine-Westphalia are driving AI forward and what smaller companies can learn from them. The event in Cologne offers ample opportunity for networking and professional exchange and is free of charge.
