Where ideas become reality

The OWL Start-up Campus at the University of Paderborn is developing into a regional leader in university spin-offs. Spanning 7,000 square meters, it offers 150 startup teams not only offices and co-working spaces, but also conference and event rooms, as well as its own makerspace. This project was made possible by €32 million in funding from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, which supports both the construction and operation of the Excellence Startup Center (ESC).

The campus is a central element of Paderborn University's commitment to creating a supportive environment for startups and thus strengthening the startup ecosystem in North Rhine-Westphalia. Of particular note is the "moonshots & moneten" startup summit, which serves as a platform for exchanging information on supporting university spin-offs. Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection Mona Neubaur emphasized the importance of this initiative, which not only creates jobs but also boosts the competitiveness of the economy. Science-based startups are considered key drivers for addressing current challenges, especially the climate-neutral transformation of the economy and society.
