Promoting market-oriented technological developments through international cooperation among entrepreneurs
The governments of Germany and Canada invite entrepreneurs from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to participate in the 16th call for proposals for joint research and development (R&D) projects. The aim is to develop innovative products, processes, or technical services with high market potential. The call is open to all technology and application areas and promotes international collaborations that lead to marketable innovations.
Bilateral projects are funded through the German Central Innovation Programme for SMEs (ZIM) and the Canadian Industrial Research Assistance Programme (IRAP). A consortium with at least one SME from each country is required. Other companies and research institutions (in Germany) can also participate.
The call for proposals emphasizes the added value of international cooperation – for example, through access to new markets, increased innovation capacity, or the shared use of R&D infrastructure. The project duration is generally two years, with the possibility of an extension to three years with appropriate justification.
The deadlines for submitting the required documents are between September 9th and November 28th, 2025.
The call for proposals is aimed at innovative entrepreneurs who want to achieve technological progress and tap into new markets through international cooperation.
