Federal Minister Katherina Reiche opened the conference of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy's annual regional policy conference took place in Chemnitz. Federal Minister Katherina Reiche delivered the opening address to more than 600 participants from politics, administration, business, science, associations, and trade unions. The event aimed to promote exchange, strengthen networks, and develop new approaches for future-oriented regional development.
The program featured high-ranking speakers, keynote speeches, panel discussions, and over 20 workshops. The accompanying exhibition showcased investment projects and initiatives from companies, municipalities, and other stakeholders. Reiche emphasized the importance of regions as drivers of innovation and production, as well as engines of structural change, where new technologies emerge and digital transformation is driven forward.
A highlight was the 6th Saxon Industry Dialogue, which addressed the challenges of change in mobility and infrastructure – from new value chains and the expansion of electricity grids to autonomous driving. On the second day, participants gained practical insights into local transformation processes and discussed with local stakeholders how economic and technological change can be successfully managed.
