Prof. Hans Theodor Eich from the University Hospital of Münster awarded ASTRO Fellowship – Innovation in lymphoma radiotherapy recognized

Professor Hans Theodor Eich, Director of the Department of Radiation Therapy – Radiation Oncology at Münster University Hospital, has been awarded the title of Fellow of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) – one of the highest honors in the field of radiation medicine. The award ceremony took place on September 30th during the 67th ASTRO Annual Meeting in San Francisco.
With over 10,000 members, ASTRO is the world's largest professional society for radiation oncology. Professor Eich is one of the few Europeans to receive this distinction – only 43 experts worldwide were honored this year. The society recognizes his outstanding contributions to research, teaching, and clinical care. Professor
Eich's innovative work on radiotherapy for lymphoma was particularly highlighted. Through international studies and his role in the International Lymphoma Radiation Oncology Group (ILROG), he has made significant contributions to the individualization and refinement of treatment. In Germany, he serves as a reference radiation therapist for the German Hodgkin Lymphoma Study Group (GHSG) and is instrumental in advancing the treatment of malignant diseases of the hematopoietic system.
This award underscores the international significance of cutting-edge medical research from North Rhine-Westphalia and the innovative strength of Münster as a center for cancer treatment.
