The innovation competition “Industrie.IN.NRW” supports business and science in closing the value chain from material production to utilization.

Industry plays a crucial role in the successful transformation of North Rhine-Westphalia as a business location. The technology fields of "materials" and "production," as key industrial strengths, are central to North Rhine-Westphalia's innovation and competitiveness. As innovation fields within the Regional Innovation Strategy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (RIS), they form an indispensable basis for new products and applications and are being implemented through innovation competitions within the ERDF.NRW 2021-2027 program.

The innovation competition "Industrie.IN.NRW" supports industry and science in closing the value chain from material production to utilization. The aim is to unlock potential in the areas of materials development, production technology, production processes and product innovations, thereby creating new perspectives for industry.

Within the entire spectrum of materials and products, the following areas are promoted:

  • the development and scaling up of innovative process technologies
  • the development of new manufacturing and recycling processes
  • the development of alternative (e.g. bio-based) materials, products and services for greater energy and resource efficiency

Networked autonomous processes (“Smart Factories”), artificial intelligence, digital manufacturing technologies and intelligent logistics processes are prerequisites for the development of innovative products and business models in all industrial sectors.

The deadline for the first round of submissions is Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 4 p.m
