The funding call supports low-threshold projects to strengthen climate resilience in cities and municipalities.
With its "Climate Adaptation.Municipalities.NRW" funding program, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia supports projects that better prepare municipalities for the consequences of climate change. The aim is to increase resilience to challenges such as heat waves, heavy rainfall, and flooding, while simultaneously supporting the goals of the European Green Deal and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Eligible applicants include municipalities, associations, research and educational institutions, chambers of commerce, clubs, and foundations in North Rhine-Westphalia. Approximately €33 million in funding is available from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and state funds. Funding is available for low-threshold climate adaptation measures with total net expenditures of up to €200,000. Applications can be submitted until December 31, 2026.
