ProduktionNRW has launched the event series "Enablers and Pioneers: Mechanical Engineering Shapes the Transformation" to showcase innovative solutions from North Rhine-Westphalia. Carbon management is considered key to achieving climate goals and offers enormous opportunities for the mechanical and plant engineering sector – these potentials are specifically addressed in this event series.
Despite the expansion of renewable energies and comprehensive efforts toward defossilization, it will not be possible to completely avoid the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide (CO2) in many industrial processes, even in the long term. The concept of "Carbon Management and Removal" aims to view CO2 not as a waste product, but as a raw material, to capture and store it, and to establish an effective CO2 circular economy – this is considered an essential step toward achieving the Paris climate goals.
What can you expect? The event will begin with an introduction to carbon management, focusing particularly on the opportunities for new business models in mechanical and plant engineering – especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Following this, exemplary business models from MAN Energy Solutions SE and Air Liquide will be presented. These approaches are intended to encourage other companies to actively engage with key transformation topics and develop their own innovative business models. In addition to the focus on business models, the event will emphasize interactive exchange and building a relevant network.
