We are looking for projects that strengthen North Rhine-Westphalia and make Europe visible locally
The EFRE.Stars NRW 2026 competition is entering a new round. Under the motto "Europe is growing together here! Strengthening community – shaping the future," projects are once again being sought that have been or are being implemented with funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) or the Just Transition Fund (JTF) and that move North Rhine-Westphalia forward.
The focus is on projects that strengthen regional and local potential, create tangible improvements for the people of North Rhine-Westphalia, and make the European ideal visible. Projects from the funding periods 2014–2020 and 2021–2027 are eligible to apply.
The application process is intentionally designed to be easily accessible: Interested parties submit a short video of no more than 90 seconds that authentically demonstrates what the project is about, who it reaches, and what contribution it makes to North Rhine-Westphalia and the future of Europe. The application deadline is June 10, 2026.
After the application period ends, a jury of experts will select five projects for the final round. Professional short films will be produced for these finalists. In autumn 2026, an online vote will determine the winning project. In addition to a professionally produced promotional film, the finalists will also benefit from increased visibility and media attention.
