On October 1st, the innocam.FORUM took place in Menden in cooperation with the South Westphalia Agency, focusing on the opportunities and challenges of automated and connected mobility in rural areas. The event was held in the vehicle hall of the Menden municipal utilities, where autonomous driving is tested in rural environments.

Highlights of the presentations:

  • Dr. Carola Haumann (University of Bielefeld): Autonomous rail systems can not only increase efficiency but also reactivate disused railway lines. Automated small vehicles are currently being tested at the RailCampus OWL in Minden.
  • Dr. Martin Sandler (Argonav GmbH): Presented his experiences from the Akoon project, in which his company is responsible for the navigation of an autonomous inland ferry.
  • Jens Niepelt (WÖHR Autoparksysteme GmbH): Presented innovative, automated solutions for connecting mobility and bicycle parking to promote the switch to cycling.
  • Christian Stolper (Federal Funding Advisory Service “Research and Innovation”): Provided information about funding opportunities in the field of automated mobility and gave useful tips for the funding process.

The next innocam.FORUM will take place on April 9, 2025. Until then, we highly recommend the innocam.STAMMTISCH (informal get-together). The next meeting is on October 28, 2024.
