Chemistry.NRW
The state cluster Chemie.NRW is organized by the VCI NRW (Chemical Industry Association of North Rhine-Westphalia). Its central goal is to strengthen the innovative capacity of North Rhine-Westphalian chemical companies through value chain-oriented networking, thereby also integrating universities and research institutions into the network.
The chemical industry is characterized by a wide variety of product lines that are integrated into numerous value chains of customer industries. Therefore, the Chemical Cluster focuses its work on key industry areas in order to identify important future fields in North Rhine-Westphalia, to network businesses within these fields and with the scientific community, and to initiate independent thematic clusters in areas where a critical mass of stakeholders exists.

Uwe Wäckers, certified teacher
Uwe Wäckers, a qualified teacher, has headed communications for the VCI NRW (North Rhine-Westphalia) since 2002 and, since July 2018, has intensified his work as Deputy Managing Director of the North Rhine-Westphalia branch of the German Chemical Industry Association (VCI NRW). In addition to his role at VCI NRW, he is also the key contact person for the Innovation Working Group of Chemie.NRW, the central platform for the chemical industry in North Rhine-Westphalia. With his expertise, he represents the economic policy interests of over 460 member companies from the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors in North Rhine-Westphalia.
