North Rhine-Westphalia is the leading innovation center for biotechnology in Europe. More than 500 life science companies, including 112 firms with a proven focus on biotechnology, translate research from over 50 universities into practical applications. This is complemented by over 60 technology and startup centers, which act as incubators, connecting universities, companies, and investors to support the development of startups.

BIO.NRW acts as a central interface, catalyzing the sustainable development of the strengths of North Rhine-Westphalia's biotechnology and bioeconomy.

Dr. Nils Schrader

Nils Schrader studied biotechnology and earned a doctorate in biochemistry.
After various positions in Germany and abroad, he has worked for the BIO.NRW network since 2009, and in a management position since 2018.
