Commuters should be encouraged to switch to climate-friendly means of transport.

To achieve greater climate protection in the transport sector, innovative projects are needed. One such project is the "Climate Commuter Challenge," launched today by the European Automobile Club, which aims to motivate commuters to switch to climate-friendly modes of transport. Rita Schwarzelühr-Sutter, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection, is presenting ACE Auto Club Europa eV with a symbolic grant check for approximately €607,000 from the National Climate Initiative (NKI) for this project.

A major climate protection opportunity lies in shifting commuter traffic from cars to-emission or emission-free modes of transport. But it's not just the environment that benefits; businesses themselves also profit, for example, by reducing parking costs, improving accessibility, increasing their attractiveness as employers, and promoting employee health. With the "Climate Commuter Challenge," the ACE Auto Club Europa is launching a new, innovative project for workplace mobility management today. A key objective of the project is to motivate employees to rethink their choice of transport and change their mobility behavior. This can be achieved, for example, by switching to public and non-motorized transport or by forming carpools.
